The newly appointed Chairperson of the board of National council for population and development (NCPD) Sam Kona paid a courtesy call to the head office of the council at Chancery building spelling out his hope and optimism that he, with the other board members and entire staff of the council will realize the mission and vision of the council.

Sam Kona, a Conflict Resolution and Peace Building professional and formerly a lecturer at the University of Cape Town, added that he desired NCPD to succeed and lead as a model Semi-Autonomous Government Agency. He reiterated his commitment and that of the entire board to supporting efforts of the council in its operations.

The new chair of NCPD board was briefed by the NCPD’s Director General Dr. Josephine Kibaru-Mbae and given the general overview and status of the council on Tuesday 14th may, 2019. The Director General Congratulated Sam Kona on his appointment by H.E President Kenyatta. She noted that Sam Kona was an experienced professional with experience, professionalism and energy to serve as the board Chair.

Present during the briefing were some members of the Senior Management Mrs. Mwangi Muthoni, Director Corporate Services, Mr. Charles Oisebe, Deputy Director Communication, Advocacy & Public Education and Mwongela Mikwa, Chief Public Relations Officer.

Sam Kona was appointed by H. E. President Uhuru Kenyatta vide a Gazette Notice No. 4283 dated 3rd may, 2019 to serve for a term of three years.
