The National Council for Population and Development (NCPD) engaged the Church Leaders during the NCCK’s 12th South Rift Regional Conference held on 23rd -25th May 2018 at Jumuia Guest House Nakuru. The NCPD team led by the Assistant Director– Mr. John Anampiu engaged the church leadership on various population issues including child and maternal health, teenage pregnancy and family planning as strategy to promote resilience against climate change shocks. The church leadership acknowledged its significant role in addressing various population issues including health and the environment.
The church leadership deliberated on how the church can step into the gap and address the issue of teenage pregnancies especially in high preference counties such as Narok County, step up their fight against alcohol and substance abuse, advocate for NHIF enrolment and strongly condemn corruption in the country. Family ministries were considered by the church leadership as a potential strategy for promoting family values and inculcation of appropriate moral values among the young people.
