Family planning is at the center of development. The effect of FP programmes are felt in health, education, wealth creation and security. Prof. El Busaidy, Head of Supkem made this observation during a stakeholder meeting organized jointly by the Kenya Muslim Youth Development Organization (KMYDO) and German Foundation for World Population (DSW). The meeting held at the Reef Hotel Mombasa on 22. March 2017 was attended by Muslim leaders and scholars from Mombasa, Kwale and Kilifi counties.

The NCPD County Population Coordinator based in Mombasa Ms. Margaret Mwaila participated in the meeting and presented information on demographic dividend that NCPD is generating with support of Government and stakeholders. The stakeholders requested the Council to analyze population dynamics especially fertility to ensure acceptable balance in view of population replacement stressing the importance of this responsibility for the Country to avoid the challenges of old age being experienced elsewhere in the world.
