Capacity Strengthening workshop for Partner Country Coordinators (PCCs) Focal Persons for South-South Cooperation aimed at enhancing knowledge on the modalities of South-South Cooperation (SSC) and South-South Triangular Cooperation and structural process of partnerships (bi-lateral, multi-lateral, interregional and triangular) and the role of PPD to achieve ICPD and SDGs was held in Taicang, China from 9th -11th July, 2019.
It was attended by NCPD’s Ms. Irene Muhunzu who is also the PCC Alternate. The workshop was organized by Population Partners in Development (PPD) and sponsored by National Health Commission of the People’s Republic of China.
It was held at the China Training Center (CTC) of Reproductive Health and Family Care, Taicang, China and attended by PCCs from Uganda, Egypt, Kenya, South Africa, Gambia, Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, India, Tunisia, Vietnam, Indonesia, China, Sri Lanka and Benin.
PPD is an inter-governmental organization of developing countries from across Africa, Latin America and the Middle East that was established during ICPD to promote and strengthen South-South Cooperation (SSC) in Reproductive Health, Population and Development within the framework of ICPD Program of Action (PoA).
The PCCs also participated in a high-level consultation on development of the PPD 5-year Strategic Plan. The meeting reviewed the implementation of the PPD’s 2015-2019 Strategic Plan; progress, achievements and lessons learnt and gave their input towards the drafting of the 2020-2024 Strategic Plan.
